Out on the Prairie does a better job than most, although there are a few cringe worthy moments that will serve to bring the bouncy rhythm to a screeching halt. Make no mistake however; this is a fantastic classroom resource. It's a great introduction to the prairie ecosystem, and the author's inclusion of animal facts at the end makes this a /5(7).

Out on the Prairie is a great rhyming book about the animals and life on the prairie. I like how the author uses words that are not used very often in everyday language. For parents or teachers who do not know what some of the words are, there is a very nice section of prairie flora and fauna (plants and animals) facts/5.
